Multi-Day Lodge-Based Kayak Adventure

All Kayak EcoTours Reservations must be made through Woods and Water

Explore the island from the water by sea kayak during the day — and then relax each evening and sleep easy at the lodge. Each day we will paddle the crystal clear near shore waters and underwater rocky shoals of Isle Royale. Day hikes, abundant wildlife, and front-row sunrises from your room await you! Woods & Waters looks forward to you joining us for 3-night, 4-night, 5-night, and 6-night options scheduled during the months of July and August 2020. Trips include lodging, meals on the island, sea kayaks and paddling gear, and qualified guides. Transportation to the island is also included; upgrading to the the seaplane may be an option (already part of the 6-night trip cost).

Highlights:

  • Enjoy incredible wildlife sightings, beautiful coastal paddling on Lake Superior, and a field trip on the Sandy to the Bangsund moose research station, Rock Harbor lighthouse, and the Edisen Fishery (the 3-night trip does not have a trip on the Sandy).
  • Lead guide is ACA- and Wilderness First Responder-certified, a cultural geographer, and photographer; second guide is both ACA and BCU-certified and an avid paddler — Alaska, Baja, and Greenland
  • Comfortable lodging and meals at Rock Harbor Lodge
  • Difficulty varies by trip. Some paddling experience suggested, but not necessary. Guests will be either in a tandem or solo sea kayak; guides will match boats to guests based on preference and ability. Participants should be able to participate in physical activities. Paddling trips will vary from 4-12 miles daily with planned breaks. Hikes take place over uneven and rocky terrain and include elevation; some trips have several hikes planned from 3-6 miles in length. Hiking poles recommended.

  • Sea plane airfare, if still available upon placing your deposit, is a $200 per person upgrade (already part of the 6-night trip cost)
