Marina operations are subject to lake and weather conditions.

At the southwestern end of Isle Royale is Washington Harbor, only 22 miles from the Minnesota shore. Secluded Washington Harbor welcomes boating and trout fishermen. It is easily accessible by boat service from Grand Portage via the Wenonah, which offers daily service to Washington Harbor. Also, the Voyageur offers visitors a scenic ride around the island from Washington Harbor to Rock Harbor Lodge.

Washington Harbor Marina

The Washington Harbor Marina offers gasoline, pump-out service, plus motorboat, canoe, and kayak rentals. Kayaks cannot be rented overnight.

Washington Harbor Marina Services

Shower Facility At the Washington Harbor Store, one can purchase tokens for the shower, as well as rent towels (for the shower).
Laundry Facility Coin operated laundry facilities are located in the same complex as the showers.
Fuel Information
  • If you are flying in on Isle Royale Seaplanes, you can purchase fuel at the Washington Harbor Store.
  • We sell isobutane mixed fuel, as well as white gas. Because we understand how important fuel is for your backpacking trip, we carry an ample fuel supply at both ends of the island.

Guest Information Guests staying at Washington Harbor Camper Cabins will check-in and check-out at Washington Harbor Store.
Features Standard selection of groceries, freeze dried camping meals, fishing tackle, camping and hiking accessories, camping fuel, photo supplies, boating accessories, bagged ice, apparel, souvenirs, toiletries and sundries. Michigan DNR fishing licenses are available for purchase as well.
