Isle Royale Resorts will not operate at Isle Royale National Park for the 2020 season.
The Dockside Store is located on the main dock in Rock Harbor. There we offer a standard selection of groceries, freeze dried camping meals, fishing tackle, camping and hiking accessories, camping fuel, photo supplies, boating accessories, bagged ice, apparel, books, souvenirs, toiletries and sundries.
At the Dockside Store, one can purchase tokens for the shower, as well as rent towels (for the shower).
Coin operated laundry facilities are located in the same complex as the store and shower.
If you are flying in on Isle Royale Seaplanes, you can purchase fuel at the Dockside Store.
We sell isobutane mix fuel, as well as white gas.
Because we understand how important having fuel is for your backpacking trip, we carry an ample fuel supply at both ends of the island.
The Dockside store does store/deep freeze your fish! You must have your fish already packaged (we do not package fish).
Michigan DNR regulations require you leave the skin on your fish (in order to identify), your Michigan fishing license number as well as your first and last name, the number of fillets of each kind as well as the date must be preset on the package of fish prior to freezing.
The Dockside Store reserves the right to deny storage of fish if proper packaging is not present.
The Dockside Store does not sell fishing licenses; however, the Lodge Office, located around the Harbor from the store does sell Michigan Fishing Licenses!
A license is not required to fish on any inland lake on Isle Royale, but it is required for any fishing on Lake Superior including its bays and harbors.
The Lodge Office sells 24-hour fishing licenses only.
Do you sell alcohol at the Dockside Store:
We sell beer and wine only! We carry a pretty great selection of local favorites, Michigan made beer, as well as Ciders and “malternatives”. Of course, all of our supplies are shipped so the selection/supply can vary!
Do you sell Charcoal for the grills in the Marina:
We do sell charcoal for the grills! Please remember that if you do purchase charcoal and have a fire to be respectful to all park visitors and clean up your mess for the next visitor to enjoy, as well as be mindful of the quiet hours for all park visitors, and practice leave no trace in order to protect wildlife.
I’m staying in the Housekeeping Cottages, can I get food to cook from the store?:
Yes and no…. The Dockside Store carries a standard selection of groceries: milk, eggs, bread, mac'n'cheese, chips, peanut butter, ramen, canned soups, snacks, etc. Therefore, you can certainly get creative and create meals during you stay with goods bought at the Dockside Store. However, if you are planning on using your kitchenette in your Cottage, we would recommend bringing your own food, and using the Dockside Store as a place to supplement when needed. Say you forget spaghetti sauce, or you want cheese and crackers to go with a bottle wine, etc.
Can I rent fishing gear from the Dockside Store?
We do not rent fishing gear in Rock Harbor.
Do you sell bottled water?
We do sell bottled water individually (not by the case). In an effort to reduce plastic waste, we would recommend you bring your own refillable water bottle and fill it up under the water spigot located behind the store. Forgot your bottle at home? We also sell refillable water bottles!
Does the Dockside Store have a microwave we can use?
The Dockside Store does not have a microwave.
Do you sell blocks of ice?
We do not sell blocks of ice, but we do sell bags of ice!
