Sightseeing Schedule

M.V. Sandy Sightseeing Schedule
Monday:
Passage Island, 1:30pm to 6:00pm
:
Cruise across one of Lake Superior's popular shipping lanes to a rugged island that has not known the grazing effects of moose on its vegetation. See the rare devil's club shrub and a picturesque 1881 lighthouse. Be prepared to hike 1 mile each way on a trail with several steep inclines.

Tuesday:
Hidden Lake/Lookout Louise, Greenstone Shuttle 9:00am to 12:00pm
:
Walk with a guide from the lake side to the ridge top where you can see distant Ontario and Isle Royale's north side. Day Hikers and back-packers may choose to trek to Rock Harbor via the Greenstone Ridge, Mt. Franklin, and the Tobin Harbor trails (10.2 mi) or return to Hidden Lake for the boat ride to Rock Harbor.
$38/adult, $19/child under 12

Captains Cruise, 2:00pm to 5:30pm:
Explore with the Captain of the M.V. Sandy scenic out-of-the-way places including Middle Island Passage and Lorelei Lane. Enroute pass by the Rock Harbor Lighthouse, Davidson Island, and Starvation Point.

Raspberry Island/Sunset Cruise
8:00pm to Sunset in June-July
7:30pm to Sunset in Aug-September
:
Take a walk along a boardwalk through the spruce bog on Raspberry Island followed by a cruise on the Sandy around Scoville and Blake Points to view features like the Canada Shoreline, the site of the Monarch shipwreck, and a Lake Superior sunset.
(After Aug.15, cruise only).

Wednesday:
Northside Cruise/Minong Mine, 9:00am to 5:30pm
:
Cruise (approx. 2 hrs. each way) along the many harbors and bays of Isle Royale's north shore. Pass by Blake Point, Amygdaloid Island, and make a possible stop at Belle Isle. Hike with a ranger the 2 mile (round-trip) trail from McCargoe Cove through a historic Minong Copper Mine site of the 1870's. Hikers have the option of trekking back to Rock Harbor via a 15-mile trail. Bring a lunch and beverage.

Thursday:

Explore on your own, and at your own pace, a one-mile self-guided trail through a spruce bog on one of Isle Royale's most scenic and rugged outer limits. Bring a lunch and beverage and enjoy them in the splendor of wave washed cliffs at Smithwick Channel.

Water Bus Service, (services offered in connection with M.V. Sandy Cruises Only):

Tuesday/Thursday:
Rock Harbor Lodge to Hidden Lake in early morning and return at 12:30pm.
$15.50/adult or child.
Rock Harbor to Daisy Farm in mid-afternoon. Will stop at docks in between if requested. $17.50/adult or child.

Wednesday:
Rock Harbor to McCargo Cove departing in the early morning and returning at 5:30pm. $26.00/adult or child

Saturday:
Rock Harbor to Daisy Farm in the morning returning in early afternoon. Will stop at docks in between if requested.
