Know Before You Go!

There is a lot to do and see when visiting Isle Royale National Park, plan your trip out ahead of time and avoid the stress! Below is important travel information and policies:

Payment Policy: The first night stay is due at time of booking. The remaining balance is due at time of arrival.

Deposit Policy: A deposit equal to the first night’s room charge plus applicable taxes is required for each room at the time of reservation.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 14 days or more from arrival are subject to a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations less than 14 days prior to your arrival date, will result in the loss of your deposit.

Extra Person Policy: All room rates are based on double occupancy. Additional person charge of $15.00 per night per person

Pet Policy: ADA service dogs are welcome on Isle Royale. However, a certificate of veterinary inspection must be obtained prior to your trip. Learn More >

Smoking Policy: Smoking is permitted outside at designated areas.


Cell Phone Service

Please plan on your cell phone to not get service on Isle Royale.


Shuttle Services

Ferry and Seaplane Services are the only methods of transportation to get to Isle Royale. There are also Water Taxi and Water Bus Services available for travel for several locations on and around the island.

Emergency Contact

Where can people contact me in case of an emergency?

If you are staying at Rock Harbor Lodge, and someone needs to reach you for an emergency, have them call our front desk at 906.337.4993. During the summer months the front desk is open from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm EST. If they call before or after hours they should leave a message, and that message will be checked first thing the following morning, and a message will be delivered to you.

If you are staying at Washington Harbor, Emergency contact information after hours will be posted on the door of the Washington Harbor Store. During the summer months the front desk is open from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm EST.


Group Booking Policy

Group Qualifications/Parameters:

  • Reservation requests can be made by CUA holder/Group Leader via telephone or email isleroyalegroups@aramark.com. Requests are subject to availability.
  • Minimum stay required of 2 nights and a maximum stay of 4 nights.
  • Group reservations will be accepted from the start of season (with full services available) through 7/3. 7/4 – 8/31 dates are not available for group reservations, but September calendar dates are also an option for groups.
  • To allow for more groups and guests to enjoy the island, only one reservation/visit will be available for each group entity one year in advance. Starting in January of that season, a group can request additional dates if available.
  • Only one group will be allowed each calendar date. Max group booking is 10 lodge rooms.
  • Reservations are only available to groups for Rock Harbor Lodge rooms; Housekeeping Cottages are not available for group bookings.

Room Rates:

  • All rates quoted are based upon the customer's sleeping room requirements as outlined in the rooms contract.
  • All rates are subject to change pending approval from the National Park Service.
  • All groups will be booked at regular approved rates. No discounts apply for group reservations.
  • Rates are per room, per night, quoted in U.S. Dollars; and non-commissionable.
  • Rates do not include occupancy tax and other fees.
  • Rates are based on double occupancy.

Rooming List:

  • Rooming list with guest names will be supplied by group planner/organizer
    at least 30 days prior to arrival date.
    • Any rooms not guaranteed by rooming list will be automatically released for general sale.

Deposit/Payment:

  • The first night’s room and tax is due at time of contract/booking.
  • Final payment due 30 days prior to arrival, which will be charged against the supplied credit card.
  • Any remaining balance will be charged against the card provided.

Cancellation/Attrition Policy:

  • Should cancellation of the rooms become necessary, the hotel must receive cancellation notification via email prior to the cancellation date indicated on the contract.
  • Room deposits, less a 10% cancellation fee, will be refunded only if cancellation is received at least 60 days prior to arrival date.
  • Tour operator may cancel or reduce room block up to 60 days prior to arrival without penalty.
  • Group may reduce original 1st peak night room block up to 10% without penalty, 45 days or more prior to arrival.

Dining:

  • Please note catering services are not available.
  • Group sack lunches are available with advance notice at least 14 days prior to arrival.
  • Groups can dine at dining room together at first seating for dinner service; Advance reservations required and pre-order is available.

Porterage:

All baggage must be tagged with the individual’s first and last name to assist the hotel in timely and accurate delivery. Rate: $6 per bag roundtrip.

Impossible Operational Conditions/Natural Disasters:

Isle Royale Resorts is not responsible for the effects of weather/lake conditions, natural disasters, fires, floods, strikes, government ordered closures, or any other reasonable circumstance outside our control.
